Overview

Each student must have a driver’s permit to receive behind-the-wheel instruction. Here is information from the MVD about how to get a permit.

A teen student must have a permit for 6 months before getting a license. An adult student needs a permit to receive driving instruction but doesn’t have to wait 6 months to apply for a license. If a student completes 10 hours of instruction through Drive Safe Driving School, there is no need to take a behind-the-wheel test at the MVD. You can bring a Drive Safe Driving School certificate of completion to the MVD and they’ll issue the license.

You can set up lessons as soon as the student has a permit, or you can wait so the lessons are timed to end at that 6-month mark. If you start the lessons as soon as the student gets a permit, the student can complete the final exam at the end of the 10-hour course and obtain a license from the MVD at that 6-month mark.

Lessons

Drive Safe Driving School offers two options: the 10-hour package and pay-as-you-go.

If you purchase the 10-hour package, you’ll pay slightly less per lesson, you can schedule all 4 lessons at once, and the student will be able to take the road test/driver’s license exam with Drive Safe Driving School.

If you purchase pay-as-you-go, you’ll pay for and schedule one lesson at a time. You can take as many lessons as you like. Use this option if you aren’t ready to pay for the 10-hour package, or if you just want some guidance starting out. Note: you must complete 10 hours of training to take the road test/driver’s license exam at Drive Safe Driving School.

Details

When you book your lessons, you’ll be able to indicate whether you’d like pick-up or drop-off services, of if you prefer to meet at the Drive Safe Driving School office. Choose whatever is most convenient for you, and if you need to make any changes, please send me an email.

Once the student has completed 10 hours of instruction and passed the road test, I’ll issue a certificate of completion, which you can take to the MVD to obtain a license once the student has had a permit for six months.
