Frequently Asked Questions

Why are driving lessons so expensive?

First, I hope you’ll consider driving lessons an investment in your teen’s confidence and safety (and your family harmony!). These lessons will give your teenager the knowledge, skills, and confidence to navigate the roads safely. Second, driving schools have a high overhead. The state requires us to rent physical office space, use a car less than five years old, and, of course, buy insurance. I do my best to keep our pricing reasonable, and we offer payment plans and smaller lesson packages. Finally, some insurance companies offer a discount if your student completes a drivers training course. If you’re not ready to invest in lessons, follow Drive Safe Driving School on TikTok or Instagram for tips to teach your child with less stress.

We are a busy family; how can we fit these lessons into our schedule?

I offer lessons in a variety of time slots to meet a variety of needs. Also, pick-up and drop-off services mean you don’t have to be there for your student’s lessons (we can pick up and drop off at home, school, work, or extracurricular activities). If you need help squeezing your lessons into a busy schedule and don’t see time slots that work for you, reach out at hello@drivesafepv.com.

Do you offer pick-up and drop-off options?

Yes! If you like, we can pick students up from home, school, work, or extracurricular activities, and drop them off at a place of your choosing. Otherwise, we can meet at the Drive Safe Driving School office on Pav Way in Prescott Valley.

Do I need a permit to take lessons?

Yes. Please ensure the student has a permit before scheduling lessons. Teens must be at least 15 years and 6 months old to get a permit, and must have that permit for 6 months before getting a license. Adults need a permit to take behind-the-wheel instruction, too. Here is a link to the MVD site where you can learn how to get a permit.

Can I finish my lessons before I’ve had my permit for 6 months?

Absolutely! Once you complete the 10-hour course, during which you’ll take your license test, you can continue to practice driving until that 6 months is up. At that time, we’ll forward your completion information on to the MVD and they’ll issue your license.

Do you teach adults?

Yes! You will need a permit to take lessons with Drive Safe Driving School.

In Arizona, adults can apply for their driver’s license without getting a permit; you must pass the written and behind-the-wheel tests. However, to practice driving before you get a license, you must have a permit.

Here’s the link to the MVD site where you can learn more about getting a permit.

Do you offer refunds?

It’s my mission to ensure you’re happy with your Drive Safe Driving School experience! I hope that if you have any constructive feedback after a lesson, you’ll share it with me and give me the chance to make things right.

That being said, I offer refunds ONLY for lessons that have not been completed yet; for example, if you pay for 10 hours and want a refund after one lesson (full or partial), I will refund you for the remaining 7.5 hours.

What is your cancellation policy?

As a mom of three busy teens, I understand that schedule changes come up and kids get sick. If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, I ask that you do so at least 24 hours in advance or as soon as you know about the change. If that’s not possible, please reach out by text as soon as possible.
